DCSI Supports MAN UP!

Volunteers from the Detroit Cancer Screening Initiative (DCSI) educated attendees of the 2025 MAN UP! fun-day held in Detroit on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The event was sponsored by 100 Black Men, an organization dedicated to de-stigmatizing preventative healthcare in the black community.

In keeping with its commitment to help improve lung cancer screening in underserved communities, Dr. Eli Jarjous and medical student Josh Sternberg helped visitors understand who should prioritize getting screened.

Lung cancer remains the most common cancer plaguing Detroiters and can be treated successfully if caught in early stages. The mission of DCSI is to educate medical professionals and the public of the need for urgency around getting a lung cancer screening if you are over 50, have an extensive smoking history or suffer from lung diseases like COPD.
